How to Thank Your Nurse

As many people know my mother was in a very bad motor vehicle accident 5 weeks ago. She has been in two hospitals and two rehabilitation centers since this occurred. So in general, many people have had a hand in her care towards recovery, which we expect to be lengthy, but successful. So, the question has become, "How do we thank the staff who cared for our mother"? Well firstly we try to be understanding of their workload and offer any help we can while we are there. Since most of my family works in the healthcare field we try to put ourselves in their shoes, and complain only when necessary. As well, compliment them on their work when we can. But in the end most staff members really appreciate one of two things:

A jug of Dunkin' Donuts coffee and Box of donuts
                    Remember night and day staff
                                        -or-
A box of candy for each shift

Both are great ideas for a staff that barely has time to sit and eat, it is great to have something to grab on the run, or pick at all day or night.

Be sure to include a thank you note, it really is appreciated.
